Nostalgia is a great thing. It has been the main driving force behind all the main film and television announcements in the last 10 years, such as with the Marvel and Star Wars film rights. A fondness for reviving old labels is happening with tech as properly.
Nokia is a great example, they were the most dominant player in the mobile well over a decade until poor operating system selection ruined their whole legacy and they went out of business. HMD brought them back, though and now they are doing just fine in the mobile As bad as the whole windows phone era was for Nokia, there was still a lot that exciting about the Lumia family of phones and the Nokia Lumia 1020 was one such device.
It placed the camera beginning and pushed the envelope, at the moment, of what people suspected from smartphone cameras. Not only that, but the Lumias also had one of the best designs ever in my opinion. And just the other day I was wondering why don’t Nokia bring back the Lumia their current Android phones. They were clean, stylish and really set the Lumia phones apart from the crowd of looking devices.
And interestingly Concept creator in collaboration with letsgodigital made concept renders of Nokia’s upcoming flagship with an under-display camera, the Nokia 9.3 by imagining it with a Lumia design. Let me be clear that this is not the final design of the Nokia 9.3 purview, they are just showing what this Nokia would look like if there is a Lumia design element into mix With that being said, There are Lumia hallmarks all over these devices, with the curved and that big round camera hump on the back reminiscent of the Lumia 1020.
Like all the phones to bear the Finnish firm’s moniker, the Lumia 1020 is one of the most popular. A megapixel behemoth, it helped to redefine mobile photography and like I’ve said pushed the case of what people assumed from smartphone cameras. If Nokia 9.3 actually looks like this then I’ll be really happy with it.
The Nokia 9.3 is turning out to be a game-changer for Nokia is the leaks are anything to go by. We learned in the previuous video that Nokia is planning to equip the under- on this handset thereby beating the likes of Samsung to market.
It will also have the 120Hz display putting itself on par with the Galaxy S20 Ultra, and OnePlus 8 Pro. Not only that there will be a Penta lens camera system at the back, one with a 108MP camera, another with a 64MP and we don’t have much info about the rest.
There will be Snapdragon 865 SoC with 5G and it is scheduled to launch in August. The Nokia 9.3 looks great on paper right now and might put the Finnish brand back on the map again but still, making the handset look good is going to be the right starting for this phone.
Anyway, let me know what do you think? Should Nokia reintroduce the Lumia design with the Nokia 9.3 or do you think people might associate it with the failed Windows Phone offerings, so they should from it? Let me know what do you think and as always I’ll see you tomorrow…Peace out!
