Samsung teased its clamshell Galaxy foldable phone earlier this year, and that we saw purportedly leaked pictures this month. It now seems like release information is next to leak, and therefore the new phone might be coming very soon.
According to Korea’s Yonhap News outlet, Samsung will launch the clamshell foldable phone (said to be the Galaxy Fold 2) alongside the Galaxy S11 series in February. But the outlet adds that the new foldable are going to be available purchasable “immediately” after the event.
It’s unclear if this release timeline only applies to the housing market of Korea or if it applies to the likes of the US and Europe also. But Yonhap’s sources say Samsung is in talks with all three mobile carriers in Korea to release the device.
The sources add that the Galaxy Fold 2 (or regardless of the new foldable is called) will have a price within the “mid-$1,000 range.” this is often slightly costlier than the ~$845 price claimed by the Korea Herald. Meanwhile, the first Galaxy Fold features a retail price of roughly $2,000.
Either way, it suggests that Samsung has much more confidence during this design than it did within the original Galaxy Fold. The Korean firm pushed its original Galaxy Fold launch back from April to September after reviewers reported major display defects.
Samsung’s new foldable is additionally tipped to supply ultra-thin glass on the most screen, enabling better scratch resistance. So it’s just like the new phone is going to be better than the Galaxy Fold in a minimum of a method.
